Dharma Heirs of the Mahāsiddha Tilopa

Dharma descendants of Mahāsiddha Tilopa played a very important role in bringing Vajrayana Buddhism to Tibet. Among others, the Karma Kagyü, the Drukpa Kagyü the Drikung Kagyü, the Taglung Kagyü, and the Shangpa Kagyü trace their lineages back to Tilopa. Additionally several Tantric practices which have now been integrated into basically all other tibetan buddhist schools have Mahāsiddha Tilopa, Nāropa and/or Maitripa as their source.
